British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday committed to deploying a 'standing army' of specialist officers to quell riots across several cities, which he termed 'far-right thuggery.' This announcement followed an emergency COBRA meeting involving senior ministers and police chiefs.

The COBRA meeting, including Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Scotland Yard chief Mark Rowley, focused on strategies to curb the violence and accelerate judicial processes for suspects. 'We will have enough specialist officers to deal with this disorder where necessary,' Starmer stated.

Starmer emphasized that the law applies equally to social media users inciting hate. This response follows riots triggered by misinformation about a stabbing suspect. 'Those involved will face the full force of the law,' he reiterated.
