On August 5, 2024, the Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Council and Special Meeting of the General Body of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) took place at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting, chaired by Minister of Women & Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi, marked the reconstitution of the institute's governing bodies.
Originally established in 1966 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, the NIPCCD's old Executive Council (EC) and General Body (GB) have been restructured. The new configuration features a streamlined approach with 22 members in the General Body and 13 in the Executive Council, a significant reduction from the previous 94 members in the GB and 21 in the EC.
Smt. Annpurna Devi, as President of the former General Body and Chairperson of the Executive Council, approved the new structure. The reconstitution aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of NIPCCD's operations.
The Minister has directed NIPCCD to focus on several key areas, including:
Training: Spearheading the training of field functionaries for the Ministry of Women & Child Development.
Research: Conducting research and documenting critical issues related to women and child development.
Mental Health Services: Expanding mental health services and Advanced Diploma Courses on Child Guidance and Counseling.
Advocacy Support: Supporting the Ministry in advocating for key missions such as Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti.
This reorganization is intended to improve NIPCCD's capacity to address and manage the evolving needs in the field of women and child development.
