Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing, Ravneet Singh Bittu, has expressed serious concern regarding the recent attacks on Sikh shrines and Hindu temples in Bangladesh. He has called on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to engage with Bangladeshi authorities to address this sensitive issue.
In a written communication to Jaishankar, Bittu highlighted the small Sikh population in Bangladesh and the threats posed by anti-India elements targeting religious sites. He urged immediate action to protect notable Sikh shrines such as Gurdwara Nanak Shahi and Gurdwara Sangat Tola in Dhaka, as well as Hindu temples.
Bittu reminded Jaishankar of the historical significance of these shrines, which were visited by Guru Nanak Dev ji and Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib. He called for assurances from the Indian government to the Sikh and Hindu communities in Bangladesh regarding their safety.
