The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has requested a response from Apple concerning an investigation report that accuses the tech giant of violating competition norms through its App Store, sources revealed.

According to these sources, the supplementary investigation by the regulator's Director General has found that Apple allegedly abused its market dominance, thereby breaching several provisions of Section 4 of the competition law. This follows an initial probe ordered by the CCI in December 2021.

The initial report did not satisfy the regulator, prompting further investigation. The supplementary report was submitted in June, and Apple has now been asked to provide a non-confidential response. Final hearings are expected to start after responses from both Apple and the complainant are received. The case originated from a complaint by the Jaipur-based NGO, Together We Fight Society.
