Punjab Police's Pre-Independence Day Security Sweep at Bus Stands

Ahead of Independence Day, Punjab Police carried out a statewide cordon and search operation at bus stands. Directed by DGP Gaurav Yadav, the operation deployed 2,500 personnel across 393 patrol teams. Over 2,400 individuals and 3,174 vehicles were inspected, resulting in four detentions and 205 issued challans.

In preparation for Independence Day, the Punjab Police launched a comprehensive cordon and search operation at all bus stands across the state. Directed by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the large-scale operation took place from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Special DGP Arpit Shukla disclosed that 393 patrol teams involving 2,500 police officers were deployed to screen individuals for suspicious activities while minimizing public inconvenience. As part of the meticulously coordinated effort, over 2,400 individuals were checked and four persons were detained for questioning.

Additionally, 3,174 vehicles at various parking facilities were inspected. The police also issued 205 challans and impounded 11 vehicles during the operation, aiming to ensure heightened security measures ahead of the national celebrations.
