Deadly Clashes in Jenin: Israeli Forces and Palestinian Militants Escalate Violence
Israeli forces, supported by drone strikes, killed 11 Palestinians in Jenin and surrounding West Bank areas. The military carried out air strikes and ground operations targeting militants. The violence, part of ongoing conflicts between Israeli forces and Palestinian groups, resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, including civilians.
Israeli forces, utilizing drone strikes, killed at least 11 Palestinians amid clashes in and around Jenin, a volatile west bank city, as per the military and Palestinian health authorities. The military reported two air strikes in Jenin that resulted in the deaths of four armed militants. The Palestinian health ministry placed the toll from the strikes at five.
The military further stated that soldiers and police killed seven militants and injured several others in different parts of the West Bank, some of whom had thrown explosive devices at them. Social media footage depicted armored personnel carriers entering Jenin, with armored bulldozers digging up roads in search of improvised bombs.
Subsequently, Israeli forces surrounded a house in Kafr Qud, near Jenin. Palestinian health officials reported two deaths and two injuries from Israeli gunfire. The deceased's identities were not disclosed, and it was unclear if they were affiliated with militant factions.
As Israel prepared for a possible Iranian reaction to the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the ongoing violence in the West Bank highlighted the multifaceted security challenges Israel faces, almost a year into the conflict with Hamas in Gaza. In another incident, four Palestinians were killed and seven injured by Israeli fire in Aqaba, between Jenin and Tubas. Two wounded were critically injured.
Among the deceased was a 14-year-old boy, shot during the Israeli forces' withdrawal. The Tubas Brigades militant group confirmed that two of their members were among the dead.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported clashes following Israeli forces surrounding a house in Aqaba. Since the Gaza war began, Israeli forces have reportedly killed 615 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including both armed fighters and civilians.
Conversely, Palestinian attacks have claimed the lives of at least 13 Israelis. A recent incident involved a Palestinian man stabbing a female border guard at a checkpoint near Jerusalem before being shot dead by police.
