Russian War Reporter Yevgeny Poddubny Survives Drone Strike

Prominent Russian TV war reporter Yevgeny Poddubny survived a Ukrainian drone strike in southern Russia's Kursk region on Wednesday, according to his television channel and local officials. Poddubny is now in intensive care at a local hospital.

Rossiya-24 reported on Telegram that Poddubny came under fire from a Ukrainian drone while reporting in the Kursk region, where Russian forces are engaged in a battle against an incursion of up to 1,000 soldiers. The 40-year-old, a visible figure in Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine, had filed a report just hours before the incident.

Russia's Health Ministry stated that Poddubny is conscious and receiving necessary treatment, including remote consultations with leading federal centers. Russia's Investigative Committee is working to establish the responsible parties and plans to present Poddubny with an award. This event adds to the risks of escalating the crisis, as noted by Deputy UN spokesperson Farhan Haq.
