The Shahi-Sheeshgarh area is enveloped in fear as a serial strangler remains at large, having claimed the lives of nine women over the past year. The local police, without solid leads, are relying on sketches to track down the killer.
Inspector General of Bareilly Range, Rakesh Singh, has taken direct command of the investigation, spurred by the lack of progress. 'All nine murders share a similar nature. The local police have not been able to crack the case, and this inactivity cannot continue,' Singh stated on Wednesday.
The murders follow a grim timeline, with the most recent victim, Anita Devi, found strangled on July 2, nearly a year after the first murder. Despite efforts and released sketches, significant leads remain elusive. 'We have activated circle officers and are receiving daily progress reports,' Singh noted, as the investigation continues amidst rising tension.
