The Tripura unit of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has made a fervent appeal to the Centre to safeguard Hindu families residing in Bangladesh amidst escalating unrest in the neighboring country.
''Since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh, the minority Hindu community is being targeted, with miscreants looting and setting fire to their homes and businesses,'' stated Sankar Roy, VHP Tripura Prantha Mantri, during a press conference on Friday.
Roy further alleged that the majority community is threatening Hindus, urging them to vacate the country while also attempting to violate the dignity of Hindu women. He emphasized the VHP's contact with its central leadership, which is urging the Indian government to act on this international issue. He called upon the Centre to address the situation with the new regime in Dhaka to prevent further attacks or forced migrations of Hindus.
Additionally, Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma expressed his concern over the vandalism of the historic 135-year-old Maharaja Bir Chandra Library in Comilla by hooligans, criticizing the burning of historical books and records. ''Their actions show their disdain for us, but we will show restraint to protect our minorities,'' he wrote on Facebook.
