Police have taken into custody an individual suspected of involvement in the harrowing murder of a woman postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, a senior officer announced on Saturday.
The suspect, identified as an outsider with unrestricted access to various hospital departments, has exhibited suspicious activities, the officer disclosed.
Authorities, who discovered the victim's semi-nude body bearing injury marks in the hospital's seminar hall, have also interrogated two intern doctors. The deceased, a second-year postgraduate trainee in the chest medicine department, was reportedly on duty the night before.
The victim's father has alleged that she was raped and murdered, and preliminary autopsy results have confirmed sexual abuse prior to her death.
