Fierce Gunfight Erupts in Anantnag, Resulting in Casualties

Two Army personnel were killed, and six others, including two civilians, were injured in a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the forest area of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported. The operation to hunt down the extremists continues despite the harsh topography.
The firefight ignited during a cordon and search operation after intelligence suggested the presence of terrorists in the remote Ahlan Gagarmandu forest in the Kokernag belt.
According to officials, the skirmish began when terrorists opened fire at the joint search parties comprising Army troopers, including para commandos, and local police. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where two soldiers succumbed to their injuries.
