Russian Embassy Condoles Indian Casualties, Stops Recruitment
The Russian embassy condoled the deaths of Indian nationals during Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Moscow stopped recruiting Indians into its armed forces since April, and is working with New Delhi for the early discharge of Indian nationals who voluntarily joined military service and wish to return home.

The Russian embassy expressed condolences over the unfortunate casualties of Indian nationals during Moscow's 'special military operation' in Ukraine. Recruitment of Indians into Russia's armed forces has ceased since April.
The embassy detailed that both Moscow and New Delhi are closely coordinating efforts for the early identification and discharge of Indian nationals who voluntarily signed up for military service and now wish to return to India.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reported to the Lok Sabha that 69 Indian citizens are pending release from the Russian Army, with eight deaths recorded. The Russian embassy emphasized that no public or clandestine recruitment campaigns have been conducted by the Russian government to enlist Indian nationals.
