Top State Official Arrested in Udaipur for Bribe in Sonography Machine Case

A top official of the PCPDNT was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Udaipur for taking a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh. The official demanded the bribe to avoid sealing a sonography machine and harassing the complainant. A case is now being registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A significant anti-corruption operation culminated in the arrest of a high-ranking PCPDNT official in Udaipur on Sunday. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the official red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh.

The ACB's Director General, Ravi Prakash Meharda, stated that the investigation was triggered by a complaint from a man who alleged continual harassment by Dr. Zulfiqar Ahmed Qazi. Qazi reportedly demanded Rs 1.5 lakh to prevent the sealing of a sonography machine and to stop further harassment.

Following due verification of the complaint, ACB conducted a successful sting operation resulting in Qazi’s arrest. He is currently being interrogated, and charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act are being prepared against him.
