Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Conduct Military Drills Amid Rising Tensions with Israel

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards are currently engaged in military drills in the western parts of the country, continuing until Tuesday. The official news agency of Iran reported this development on Sunday.

According to armed forces officials, the exercises, which began on Friday, are being held in Kermanshah province near the Iraqi border to enhance combat readiness and vigilance. These drills occur as Iran pledges retaliation against Israel for the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 in Tehran.

Hamas and Iran accuse Israel of Haniyeh's killing, which Israel has neither confirmed nor denied. The incident has raised concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza could escalate into a broader Middle East war. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Iran and its proxy Hezbollah about possible severe repercussions. Meanwhile, Iranian officials, including Revolutionary Guards deputy commander Ali Fadavi, reiterated their commitment to avenge Haniyeh's death following orders from Iran's supreme leader.
