A special camp was launched on Monday in the disaster-hit regions of Wayanad to help landslide survivors retrieve official documents they lost in the catastrophe. The initiative, spearheaded by the Local Self Government department, district administration, and state IT Mission, is being conducted in select schools in Meppadi.
Arrangements in the camps are being made for survivors, whether staying in temporary camps or other locations, to recover their lost certificates or documents. The District Collector shared this information in a Facebook post on Monday.
Furthermore, a search operation involving a 190-member team, including NDRF, police, fire force, Civil Defence, and rescue volunteers, resumed efforts in five zones of the affected area despite prior interruptions due to heavy rains in Mundakkai and Chooralmala regions. The government reported 229 deaths from the landslides, with 130 people still missing and 51 bodies unidentified.
