Turkish police have apprehended an 18-year-old masked individual after a stabbing incident injured five people in the northwestern city of Eskisehir, according to state-owned Anadolu news agency on Tuesday.

The assailant, donning a helmet, a skull face covering, and a bulletproof vest, targeted five individuals in the garden of a mosque, leaving two critically wounded, as reported by other media sources.

Turkish media aired a video allegedly filmed by the perpetrator as he charged through the garden, causing people to scatter. Anadolu attributed the attack to the influence of video games, though no source was cited for this claim. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya described the attack as random, while prosecutors, under the direction of Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc, launched an investigation.
