Massive Security Drill Ahead of Independence Day in Delhi
Over 600 Delhi Police personnel practiced firing with short-range weapons in preparation for Independence Day. A total of 681 officers will be deployed at strategic locations. Additionally, security measures include intensified night patrolling, multi-layered barricading at borders, and deployment of more than 3,000 traffic police personnel and 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras.

Over 600 Delhi Police personnel in the northeast district conducted extensive firing practice with short-range weapons on Tuesday at the police shooting range in anticipation of Independence Day celebrations, according to officials.
A senior police officer stated that 681 officers, who underwent the short-range firing practice, will be positioned at various strategic locations across Delhi. These officers are fully prepared to handle any adverse situations.
In addition, night patrolling has been intensified particularly in border areas. Multi-layered barricades have been established at the Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-Uttar Pradesh borders. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been directed to inspect all vehicles and verify the documents of their owners entering the national capital.
On Independence Day, more than 3,000 traffic police personnel will be assigned to regulate traffic at key junctions throughout the city and on roads connecting the borders and the Red Fort. Overall security in the national capital has been enhanced with the deployment of over 10,000 police personnel and 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras.
