TMC's Saket Gokhale Faces Criminal Charges Under PMLA

In a significant legal development, a special PMLA court in Ahmedabad has framed criminal charges against Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale from the Trinamool Congress, according to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The charges arise from a Gujarat Police FIR alleging Gokhale misused money collected through crowd-funding efforts. A detailed charge sheet had been filed against Gokhale last year, and he was subsequently arrested by the ED in January 2023.

The court also denied Gokhale's request to delay proceedings until the decision on the scheduled offence against him is finalized. Gokhale maintains his innocence, denying any misuse of the crowd-funded money.
