BJP President Backs CBI Probe into Trainee Doctor's Tragic Death

BJP president J P Nadda welcomed the Calcutta High Court's decision to transfer the investigation of a trainee doctor's rape and murder to the CBI. He criticized West Bengal's government for attempting to cover up the incident, stressing lawlessness and increasing atrocities against women in the state.

BJP president J P Nadda on Tuesday welcomed the Calcutta High Court's decision to transfer the probe into the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor to the CBI, accusing the West Bengal government of trying to hush up the incident.

Nadda, who is also the Union health minister, stated that lawlessness is rampant in the state and atrocities against women are on the rise.

'All this is happening despite the state having a woman chief minister,' he said, attacking Mamata Banerjee.

'I welcome the high court's decision to mandate a CBI inquiry, and I trust this investigation will reveal the truth,' he added.

He noted that several delegations from doctors' associations have approached his ministry recently, and he assured them of the central government's deep concern over the attacks on doctors.

'I am dedicated to resolving this issue, and the Centre will take all necessary steps to make it happen,' he affirmed.

Nadda described the crime as heart-wrenching and said it has shaken the nation, adding that the state's attempt to suppress the incident and deceive the public was highly condemnable.
