In a notable development, Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner Shyambir Singh, facing criminal contempt of court proceedings, presented a written apology to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Ganderbal on Tuesday.
Shyambir Singh, an IAS officer, submitted an affidavit tendering his sincere apology, which was noted and forwarded by Chief Judicial Magistrate Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi to the High Court for further disposal. Singh also personally appeared before the court to reaffirm his apology.
Singh's apology comes in response to accusations of abusing his position to intimidate Sub-Judge Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi following a court order to attach Singh's salary for non-compliance.
