UIF Hosts Employer Breakfast Session to Discuss Compliance and New Developments

Attendees will benefit from the presence of UIF subject matter experts who will provide on-the-spot assistance with any challenges related to the fund.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) is inviting employers from the Eastern Cape to a special Employer Breakfast session in Queenstown next week. The event will be held at Aloe Grove Guest Farm on Monday, August 19, 2024, and will be hosted by UIF Commissioner Teboho Maruping.

This session is aimed at employers from all sectors, including commercial business owners and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in Komani (Queenstown) and the wider Eastern Cape Province. Commissioner Maruping will discuss the significance of complying with the Unemployment Insurance Act and outline how recent developments within the UIF may affect both employers and employees.

Attendees will benefit from the presence of UIF subject matter experts who will provide on-the-spot assistance with any challenges related to the fund. Additionally, the department will offer a range of services to the community in the lead-up to the breakfast session. This includes help with UIF claims, Compensation Fund claims, resolution of inquiries, registration of work seekers on the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) database, and information on the National Minimum Wage and other basic employment conditions.

Pre-event activities will begin on Wednesday at the Municipality Hall (Convent) in Cala from 9 am to 3 pm. The following day, activities will be held at the Cofimvaba Town Hall, and they will conclude on Friday at the Cacadu Town Hall. These outreach efforts aim to provide comprehensive support to employers and workers in the region.
