According to the interim government's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, UN human rights chief Volker Turk made a call to him this past Wednesday.
Bangladesh experienced significant upheaval last week when Prime Minister Hasina resigned and moved to India, prompting the Army to assume control on August 5. More than 500 people were killed in anti-government protests over the two weeks preceding her departure.
