The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday condemned the alleged rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata as extremely painful and distressing, demanding that the culprit face exemplary punishment.
The tragic incident took place last week, with the postgraduate trainee doctor's body found at RG Kar Medical College. This incident, which allegedly occurred while she was on duty, has ignited protests from doctors and medical students across India.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "The incident in Kolkata is extremely painful and regrettable. Even thinking about it makes the soul tremble, how much pain that junior doctor girl must have suffered. CBI is investigating this case and the accused has been caught." He added that such a crime demands the strictest punishment to set an example and criticized the politicization of such incidents. Singh also questioned the safety of women nationwide, highlighting the ineffectiveness of political promises without actionable security measures.
