Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the daughter of billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra, secured a majority vote in the Thai House of Representatives to become the new prime minister, following the removal of former prime minister Srettha Thavisin by the Constitutional Court.

Thailand's Paetongtarn Shinawatra secured the needed majority in the House of Representatives on Friday, earning the position of the country’s next prime minister.

Paetongtarn, the daughter of billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra and a key figure in the ruling Pheu Thai party, was expected to gain parliamentary approval. Her ascent to the role comes on the heels of a Constitutional Court decision that removed former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office.

This significant political shift marks a new chapter in Thailand's leadership.
