Violence Erupts in West Bank: Fierce Clashes in Jit
Muawiya Sedeh, a 38-year-old father, narrowly escaped with his family when Jewish settlers attacked his home in Jit, West Bank, torching it and threatening their lives. This attack marks a significant escalation in settler violence amid ongoing regional tensions and diplomatic efforts to halt the Gaza conflict.
Muawiya Sedeh, a 38-year-old father of five, was at home in the West Bank village of Jit when a group of Jewish settlers, some masked and wielding Molotov cocktails, invaded his property on Thursday night.
Sedeh and his family narrowly escaped, with the settlers jeering and taunting them as they fled, saying, "We will come back and kill you!" and urging them to go to Jordan or Syria. Eyewitnesses reported over 100 attackers, many masked and dressed in black, who were organized into groups armed with guns and incendiary devices.
Video on social media showed cars and houses set ablaze, and a 22-year-old man was reported killed by settler gunfire. This incident, larger and more organized than previous attacks, comes amid a rise in settler violence across the West Bank, particularly since the Gaza war's escalation. Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, condemned the attack and called for investigations as global pressure on Israel mounts.
