First Exclusive Digital Court Inaugurated in India by Justice B R Gavai

The event also saw the launch of an online dispute resolution platform and a Model Digital Court Room. Special Courts for specific acts were inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Supreme Court judge Justice B R Gavai on Friday inaugurated the country's first exclusive Digital Court for handling cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act. The event, held at the High Court auditorium, included the launch of an online dispute resolution platform, We-Solv Virtual Solution Maker, facilitating online deliberations.
Justice Gavai also unveiled a Model Digital Court Room designed by the Kerala High Court to address the limitations of traditional courtrooms. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated Special Courts in Ernakulam and Alappuzha dedicated to handling cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the BUDS Act.
Justice Gavai noted the importance of technological interventions, especially post-COVID-19, highlighting virtual hearings initiated by the Supreme Court during the lockdown. He emphasized that technology should be leveraged to provide accessible and affordable justice to all citizens, regardless of their financial or geographical limitations.
