ACB Registers Cases Against Former MD of J&K Handloom Corporation for Corruption

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed two cases against Rakesh Sharma, the former managing director of Jammu and Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation Limited, for alleged corruption and unauthorized appointments. Investigations are underway to probe into the fraudulent procurement of looms and the illicit hiring of 14 employees.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday filed two corruption cases against former managing director of Jammu and Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation Limited, Rakesh Sharma, and others, officials stated.

The FIRs involve allegations against Sharma and proprietors of Shree Tex Engineers from Maharashtra, for graft issues tied to loom procurement and clandestine appointments of 14 officials in the corporation.

Officials revealed that in another allegation, Sharma misused his power by approving 14 illegal appointments without following proper advertising procedures, unlawfully benefiting the appointees. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
