Defence Minister Angie Motshekga Steps in as Acting SA President
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Defence Minister Angie Motshekga as acting president while he attends a Southern African Development Community summit in Zimbabwe.
In a statement released by his office, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Defence Minister Angie Motshekga will serve as acting president on Saturday. This temporary appointment coincides with Ramaphosa's trip to Zimbabwe.
The president is visiting Harare to participate in a regional summit hosted by the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Alongside other leaders, Ramaphosa aims to discuss key issues affecting the region at the summit.
