Arrest in Kamptee for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

A 50-year-old man in Kamptee has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old neighbor girl. The incident follows the recent sexual abuse cases in Thane district and has ignited protests. The accused threatened the girl with a knife to keep silent, but she reported to her parents, leading to his arrest.

A 50-year-old man was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Kamptee, near Nagpur, police reported on Thursday.

The incident occurred on August 20 and adds to recent similar cases in Thane, sparking significant public outrage.

According to police, the accused lured the girl into his home with the promise of snacks and then assaulted her. He threatened the child to prevent her from telling anyone about the incident. However, the girl informed her parents, and they reported the matter to the authorities.

The suspect has been charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. An investigation is currently underway.
