Three young students, between the ages of 9 and 11, have been taken into custody for allegedly beating a five-year-old boy to death at a madrasa in northeast Delhi's Dayalpur, authorities revealed on Saturday.

Initial police reports indicated that the child died under mysterious circumstances, citing blisters on his neck, abdomen, and groin. However, post-mortem results exposed multiple internal injuries, including a ruptured liver and abdominal bleeding.

Further probing disclosed that the boy was beaten by fellow inmates. Conflicting reasons were provided by the accused during interrogation; one claimed the victim's abuse provoked them, while another suggested they believed the boy's death would result in a holiday declaration from the madrasa. CCTV evidence has corroborated these findings, and an investigation is ongoing.

The case came to light when a call was made to police about the boy's death at Brijpuri madrasa at 9:52 pm on Friday. The boy's mother had been informed of her son's illness earlier that evening and rushed him to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Returning to the madrasa, she was met by a large, agitated crowd demanding action against the administration.

Police intervened, taking the boy’s body to GTB Hospital's mortuary and assuring the crowd of a thorough investigation, leading them to disperse. The boy's mother, a domestic worker, disclosed that her son had been studying at the madrasa for five months. The madrasa, led by Principal Haji Din Mohammad, accommodates around 250 boys, including 150 from outside Delhi.
