The Assam Assembly on Wednesday became the scene of a noisy confrontation as opposition parties accused the government of failing to implement the Assam Accord effectively. The heated exchange was prompted by a question from Congress MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed.

In response, Assam Accord Implementation Minister Atul Bora announced that a sub-committee had convened five times to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for fulfilling all clauses of the historic agreement. 'We hope to prepare a blueprint within three months and then submit the report. The Home Ministry is the nodal agency for implementation,' Bora said.

Bora criticized the Congress for not taking action on the Accord during its tenure in power. 'The Congress was in power for a long time, and this could have been done if they had the goodwill,' he declared. The statement sparked protests from Congress legislators, who demanded the Accord's immediate implementation. Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia countered by asking for the current government's progress, noting that the BJP had been in power for eight years.
