The political storm surrounding CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh intensified on Thursday, as both the Congress and the BJP called for his resignation following rape allegations. Protests erupted outside his residence and across various state locations.
Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan stressed that the Congress had always demanded Mukesh's resignation, accusing the Left government of delaying action on the Justice Hema Committee report, which highlights harassment in the film industry.
Youth Congress activists, alongside BJP's Yuva Morcha, staged protests in different cities, leading to some arrests. The state government announced a special investigation team to probe the allegations, marking the third high-profile case after similar accusations surfaced against other Malayalam film industry figures.
