Police have apprehended four men for allegedly operating a fake call centre that defrauded individuals by selling them bogus 'trading software,' an official disclosed on Friday. The suspects, identified as Purushottam, Deepak, Ram Balak Rai, and Amar Singh, were arrested during a raid in Sector-63.
The operation, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Shakti Mohan Awasthi, resulted in the seizure of 33 laptops, six mobile phones, a printer, three QR code machines, and counterfeit documents from the suspects' possession.
The call centre operatives primarily targeted foreigners, falsely claiming to be registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and cheating them out of large sums of money. Further investigations into the operation are currently underway, according to DCP Awasthi.
