Brazil Blocks Access to Musk's Social Media Platform X Amid Legal Standoff
Amid escalating tensions with the Brazilian judiciary, Brazil has blocked Elon Musk's social media platform X due to the lack of a legal representative in the country. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the suspension to counter misinformation and extremist posts. The platform remains deeply contested within the Brazilian political landscape.
Brazil has initiated a blockade against Elon Musk's social media platform X, rendering it largely inaccessible on both web and mobile apps early Saturday. This drastic action follows Musk's failure to appoint a legal representative in the nation, as mandated by Brazilian law.
The conflict, brewing for months, involves Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who cites the platform's role in spreading misinformation and extremist content. On Friday, de Moraes ordered the suspension, which was quickly enforced by Brazil's telecommunications regulator, Anatel.
Despite multiple warnings, the billionaire entrepreneur has openly defied the court, leading to fines and further legal complications. The blockade remains until compliance is met, highlighting the tension between tech giants and national sovereignty.
