In a tragic incident, at least 11 people were killed and more than 30 injured when a truck crashed into a bar in Azua, a southern community of the Dominican Republic, early Sunday morning.
The news was confirmed by Juan Salas, the director of civil defense, who spoke to The Associated Press. The crash happened in the early hours, and one of the victims was reported to be a police sergeant.
Authorities are currently reviewing camera footage to determine the cause of the accident. The truck driver fled the scene and remains at large, while a passenger has been detained. The victims have been taken to a nearby hospital, though their current conditions are unknown.
