A local court has sentenced a 45-year-old man to life imprisonment for the rape of a four-year-old girl in 2018, according to a statement by a lawyer on Monday.
The court, presided over by Additional Sessions Judge/Special Judge POCSO Act Amit Veer Singh, also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the accused, who committed the crime in Pannuganj village on March 13, 2018, said government lawyer Dinesh Prasad Agrahari.
The victim was playing outside her house when the man, from the same village, lured her to his residence and raped her. Police registered an FIR and completed an investigation, which led to a charge sheet being filed. If the fine is not paid, the convicted man will face an additional three months of imprisonment.
