In a significant move to address farmer concerns, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday assured that the new agriculture policy draft will be shared with farmers by September 30, incorporating their suggestions before its implementation.

This announcement followed a two-hour meeting with leaders from the Bharti Kisan Union (Ugrahan) and Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union (PKMU), who have been protesting for five days to press their demands, including the immediate implementation of the agriculture policy. Mann emphasized the state government's commitment to protecting farmers' interests.

The meeting also discussed additional relief measures, such as a proposed One Time Settlement scheme for debt-ridden farmers and re-examining compensation for suicide cases among farmers and laborers. The Chief Minister asked officials to explore withdrawing cases against farmer union leaders and address environmental issues like the 'buddha nullah' water pollution in Ludhiana.
