Court Official Arrested for Bribery in Hotel Case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended an official associated with the Court of Small Causes for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from a hotelier. The bribe was supposedly aimed at swaying a decision in a pending case.
Acting on a complaint, an ACB team executed a sting operation at a hotel in the LT Marg area on Monday. The operation led to the capture of the accused, Vishal Chandrakant Sawant, in the act of accepting the illicit payment.
Sawant, who serves as a translator-interpreter at the court, is accused of demanding the bribe to resolve a hotel ownership dispute in the complainant's favor. He has been arrested under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the investigation continues.
