BJP MLA Demands CBI Probe into Unresolved Odisha Murders

BJP MLA Jaynarayan Mishra has called for a CBI probe into three murders and one alleged suicide that occurred during the BJD rule in Odisha. Mishra highlighted the unresolved cases and expressed distrust in local police investigations, urging the new BJP government to take action.

BJP MLA Jaynarayan Mishra demanded a CBI probe into three murders and an alleged suicide during the BJD rule in Odisha. He raised this issue during Zero Hour in the state assembly on Tuesday.

Mishra cited cases including the 2008 killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati, the 2023 assassination of Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, and the 2021 alleged rape and murder of a female teacher. Mishra questioned the trustworthiness of the Odisha Police's investigations and urged the BJP government, which came to power in June, to transfer these cases to the CBI.

The legislator also pointed out inconsistencies in the alleged suicide of the prime accused in the teacher's murder case, Govinda Sahu, who was found dead in jail in December 2022.
