U.S. Imposes Fresh Sanctions Over Iran's Missile Supply to Russia Amid Ukraine Conflict
The U.S. announced new sanctions on entities involved in Iran's alleged delivery of ballistic missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned this step marks a significant escalation in the conflict. Iran denies these claims, while the EU and UK pledge additional sanctions.
The United States has imposed new sanctions on entities and individuals involved in delivering Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia for its war in Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Tuesday. He stated the supply of missiles marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
Speaking at a news conference in London, ahead of a visit to Kyiv, Blinken revealed that Russia has now received shipments of these missiles and plans to use them shortly against Ukraine. He noted that intelligence information has been shared with U.S. allies.
The Treasury Department identified nine Russian-flagged vessels involved in the missile deliveries and imposed measures on previously sanctioned entities, including Iran Air. While Iran denies the allegations, claiming it's Western propaganda, the EU and UK have pledged further sanctions.
