Seven persons, including three minors, have been detained in Gujarat’s Kutch district for allegedly damaging a Ganesh idol and placing their religious flag atop a nearby temple, according to a police official on Wednesday.

The incidents occurred on Tuesday in Kotda-Jadodar village in Nakhatrana taluka. Superintendent of Police (Kutch-West) Sagar Bagmar stated that an FIR was filed late at night at Nakhatrana police station.

Bagmar further explained that the local police launched an investigation after learning about the stone-pelting incident that damaged the Ganesh idol at a pandal. Locals also informed authorities that some individuals had placed their religious flag on a nearby temple. The police have detained three minors involved in damaging the idol and four adults for mounting the flag on the temple. An additional police force has been deployed to bring the situation under control, and residents are urged to avoid spreading rumors and sharing videos that could disturb public order.

A similar incident was reported on Sunday in Surat city, where a violent clash ensued after stones were pelted at a Ganesh pandal. Police arrested 27 individuals and detained six minors in that case.
