The European Union is poised to make a critical decision on tariffs for electric vehicles imported from China, with a vote scheduled for September 25, according to Bloomberg News.

Sources reveal that the European Commission is ready to impose definitive tariffs of up to 35.3%, in addition to the existing 10% import duty. Despite recent offers from Chinese EV manufacturers for minimum import prices, the EU has rejected these proposals.

The European Commission declined to comment on the report. EU Trade Chief Valdis Dombrovskis is set to meet with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao next Thursday to discuss the matter further. EU members will vote on the proposed tariffs, which could be enacted by the end of October if approved.
