Lebanon's health minister reported on Saturday that the death toll from an Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb has risen to 31, with seven women and three children among the deceased.
Health Minister Firass Abiad stated that 68 people were wounded, 15 of whom remain hospitalized. This airstrike marks the deadliest attack on Beirut since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
The casualties include Ibrahim Akil, a Hezbollah commander overseeing the group's elite Radwan Forces, and approximately a dozen Hezbollah members who were meeting in the building's basement at the time of the attack.
Israel conducted the airstrike in the densely populated southern Beirut neighborhood during Friday's rush hour. On Saturday, Hezbollah's media office allowed journalists to tour the scene, where recovery efforts were ongoing.
Lebanese troops secured the area, preventing access to the destroyed building, while Lebanese Red Cross members stood by to retrieve any bodies found in the rubble.
