A woman warden at a private hostel has been accused of assaulting 15 girl students, police reported on Saturday.
According to the students, who are currently in sixth to tenth grades at a local government school, the warden allegedly beat and mistreated them on Friday.
The girl students, many from single-parent households, are housed at the hostel under the Child Welfare Committee.
The incident led the students to refuse to return to the hostel, prompting the information to be relayed to their parents and the police, according to the school's headmaster.
The headmaster revealed that the warden 'hit' the students for allegedly creating a disturbance in the hostel.
Subsequently, school authorities lodged a formal complaint at Rajendranagar police station, resulting in the warden's detention, police confirmed.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
