Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has taken a significant step by seeking the Kempanna Commission report from the state government. This report pertains to the alleged illegal denotification of 541 acres of land in Arkavathi Layout, Bengaluru.
The commission, under retired High Court Justice H S Kempanna, was set up in 2014 during Siddaramaiah's first term as Chief Minister, following public complaints. It aimed to probe the illegalities in the land's denotification by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
Although the report was submitted in 2017, it has not been made public, despite demands from BJP leaders. This recent development follows Governor Gehlot's sanction to investigate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over another alleged scam.
