Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old Dalit girl in a village in Mahoba district, according to officials.

SHO Nagendra Kumar Nagar said that the girl's mother had filed a complaint after finding her daughter missing from their home on Saturday night. The girl returned on Sunday morning, alleging that she had been raped by Arjun Kushwaha, who works as a lineman for the electricity department.

The suspect allegedly lured the girl away and raped her. Khushwaha has been booked on charges of rape and under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. He was arrested on Sunday evening and will be produced in court on Monday.
