Lost PoK Resident Returns Home after Crossing LoC

A resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Hassam Shahzad, inadvertently crossed into the Indian side and was later handed back to the Pakistan Army by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, after confirming he had lost his way.

A resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) who accidentally crossed into Indian territory has been safely returned to Pakistan. The incident took place in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Hassam Shahzad, 35, from Tarinote village, was taken into custody by the Indian Army from the Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar sub-division early Sunday. Officials reported that questioning revealed Shahzad had lost his way and inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC).

After establishing contact with Pakistani counterparts, the Indian Army handed Shahzad back to Pakistan at Chakan Da Bagh on Monday evening, concluding all necessary formalities.
