The harrowing event took place in Pakpattan district, approximately 200 kilometers from Lahore, and has prompted Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to give the police a 48-hour deadline to apprehend the suspects.
According to police reports, the girl was traveling with her family when their vehicle was intercepted by four armed men. The assailants robbed the family of their valuables before forcibly taking the teenage girl to a nearby maize field where two of them allegedly gang-raped her while holding her family at gunpoint. The Chief Minister emphasized that the culprits will face exemplary punishment once caught.
