Thirty people were arrested and nearly 10,000 bottles of liquor were seized across Nagaland during a two-hour-long surprise check, police reported on Tuesday.

The operation was a coordinated effort involving all District Executive Forces, various battalions of Nagaland Armed Police, and Indian Reserve Battalions, police stated.

Authorities registered 28 cases under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989, and seized 9,583 bottles of liquor from suspected illegal sellers and stores on Saturday. This follows the state cabinet's recent decision to revisit the prohibition law, which faced opposition from churches and tribal organizations.
