NCP MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday pointed out alleged inconsistencies in the Maharashtra government's narrative surrounding the death of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case.
Sule questioned how Shinde, whose face was covered and hands were handcuffed, could have managed to seize a policeman's pistol in a moving vehicle. Shinde was shot by police after he opened fire and injured an assistant inspector, according to official reports.
The incident occurred during Shinde's transfer from Taloja Jail to Badlapur in Thane district. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed police acted in self-defense. Sule demanded the public release of CCTV footage and stressed the need for clarity and transparency in the matter.
